Hams to be Given to Area Residents Ahead of the Christmas Holiday
CLAY CENTER, Kan. (December 12, 2022) – Local broadband provider Twin Valley is partnering with Ray’s Apple Market, Clay County Medical Center and Bennington State Bank in its third annual drive-thru event to give away hams ahead of the Christmas Holiday. In addition to Clay Center, the community of Bennington has been added as a second giveaway location. The free spiral-cut hams will be given to any resident on a first-come, first-served basis.
Hams will be handed out on Thursday, December 15, at 4 pm for each community. The drive-thru locations will be at the Clay County Fairgrounds, 205 S. 12th St. in Clay Center, and Bennington Bible Church, 824 N. Nelson St. in Bennington. There are no income guidelines or other restrictions other than one ham per vehicle while supplies last – no rain checks.
“In our Pledge, we committed to facilitating meaningful community outreach initiatives. Each year, there are cars lined up around the block for a chance to get a free ham for the holidays, so clearly there’s a need,” Twin Valley President & CEO Ben Foster said. “We are proud to partner with other local businesses to continue helping local families in need have a nice holiday meal with their loved ones.”
Lines will form at each location beginning at 3:45 p.m. In Clay Center, the line will form heading east along Harriet and cars will enter the fairgrounds at the corner of 12th and Harriet. Vehicles will not be allowed to enter the line westbound on Harriet or from 12th Street. Volunteers will be onsite to direct traffic.
Employees from participating businesses will help direct traffic and hand out hams to local residents. Participants are asked to stay in their vehicles.
Twin Valley will post on its Facebook page and Holiday Ham Giveaway Facebook Events once supplies have run out.
